The first Virtual Power Station in Kazakhstan will be launched in 2020
A memorandum was signed on the sidelines of the Energy Saving Summit between the largest virtual power station operator in the world, NEXT Kraftwerke GmbH (Germany) and «Energy On Track». This was announced by the CEO of «Energy On Track» Zhanibek Baidulla.
Together with the regional partner of «Energy On Track», it is planned to create an element of a virtual power station in Kazakhstan based on the so-called «VPP as a service» product of the company NEXT Kraftwerke.
A virtual power plant is a cloud-based solution that combines the power of distributed energy resources of renewable energy sources (RES) in order to increase electricity generation, as well as trade or sale on the market.
«The technology is used in countries where the share of renewable energy exceeds 10 percent, and there is a need to balance the network with the help of advanced systems. It is widely used in the USA. This is a very modern technology from the field of digitalization, which will greatly help Kazakhstan achieve its goals of transitioning to a «green» economy», said Zhanibek Baidulla.
Kazakhstan is already implementing plans to increase the share of renewable energy sources. In this regard, the country in the near future may be faced with the need for a more advanced system for managing electrical networks. Using the technology of virtual power plants will significantly increase the efficiency and reliability of the grid.
Recall that the III Summit on Renewable Energy Sources was held in Nur-Sultan, co-organized by the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy.
