The republican project on development of youth journalism "Jas Qalam" has started
The acceptance of applications for participation in the republican project "Jas Qalam" for the training of universal and convergent journalists has started. The organizer of the project is the Congress of Youth in Kazakhstan with the support of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation.
The goal of the project is to develop journalism in Kazakhstan, to provide an opportunity to get knowledge for free from professionals in their field - famous journalists of the country, media managers, media leaders, bloggers and authors of telegram channels, media trainers.
The project has become traditional and is being held for the third time. Last year, participants had to choose between blogging, TV journalism or written and internet journalism, and this year they can study for a whole month every day and gain knowledge in all 4 areas: blogging and social media; personal branding and PR; television journalism; written and online journalism.
It should be noted that this year the training will be held in two languages. During September 26 and November 20, training for the Russian-speaking audience, and from November 16 to December 11 - for the Kazakh-speaking audience.
- This year it was decided to diversify the topics and directions of the master classes. We want every young journalist to have a range of topics to explore. The Jas Qalam trainings held every year and shows their effectiveness. As a result the participants start to look differently at the conduct of information work, see their mistakes and discover new formats for presenting information, ways of positioning, ”says Alkey Margulanuly, Deputy Executive Director of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation.
The first module of the program is "Blogging", it dedicated entirely to social media, copywriting, storytelling and current trends in platforms such as Instagram and Youtube.
The second module is “PR and Personal Brand”. The best public relations specialists will talk about image building, interaction with the media and crisis management.
The third module is particularly interesting for those who dreamed of a career on TV and their own show. TV Journalism Week explores different formats of TV shows, from news to proprietary programming.
The program will end with a module that teaches the basics of written journalism, trends and work in online media, writing articles and the art of interviewing.
- We are pleased that the number of project participants is growing from year to year. In 2018, the forum for young journalists visited 4 regions of Kazakhstan. In 2019, more than 1000 young children from 7 regions of the country took part in regional forums. This year, children from all regions of the Republic have the opportunity to study. At the end of 2-month online project, we will unite all participants on a single communication platform for the further development of an online media community for aspiring journalists and bloggers across the country, '' said Tokhtar Bolysov, executive director of the Kazakhstan Youth Congress.
The organizers have begun to create a single educational platform "Jas Qalam", which is planned to be launched at the end of the project in December 2020.
Acceptance of applications for the Russian-speaking audience will end on October 22nd, and for the Kazakh-speaking audience - on November 16th, following the link in the profile header @ jas.qalam on the project's Instagram page.
