Legends of the great steppe

“Uly Dala Anyzdary” (“Legends of the Great Steppe”) project, a series of web graphic novels, was developed in an effort to implement “Ruhani Zhangyru” (Modernization of Kazakhstan’s Identity) and “Seven Facets of the Great Steppe” programs aimed at developing a national spirit among young people, increase interest in the nation’s history, culture and traditions. 

“Uly Dala Anyzdary” consists of two chapters - “Seven Stories of Great Love” and “Great Batyrs of the Kazakh Land” and tells the stories and legends of the Kazakh people that were passed from generation to generation by our ancestors. All legends are somehow connected with sacred places in Kazakhstan, which allows us to learn more about them.

As part of the project, Qazcomics.kz website and its app were created in Kazakh, Russian and English languages. Nine comics were published: “Kozy-Korpesh - Bayan Sulu”, “Zhumbaktas”, “Yenlik Kebek”, “Shaitankol”, “Estay - Qorlan”, “Ertostik”, “Lake Balkhash”, “Aisha Bibi” and “Alpamys”.
