Nazarbayev Foundation Scholar Mariyam Almakhan: «Creativity is the Language I Speak with the World»

Mariyam is a 17-year-old scholar of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation from Astana, currently a third-year college student at the Kazakh National University of Arts. She is studying to become an artist and is deeply passionate about her craft.
"I create because it is an integral part of my life and a means of self-expression. I have been fascinated by drawing since early childhood, and I can't imagine my life without it. I believe my art is a language through which I can share my thoughts, emotions, and ideas with the world," says Mariyam Almakhan.
The Path to Success
From a young age, Mariyam was passionate about drawing and dedicated years to refining her skills. Now she studies painting, drawing, and art history. Her works are not just images but expressions of thoughts, emotions, and ideas. In addition to fine arts, Mariyam is also interested in mobile photography and video editing, which allows her to blend traditional and modern art forms.
Achievements
Mariyam has won multiple international competitions, including "Open Asia" in Tashkent, "Constellation of Talents" in Moscow, and "Art Prospect" in Kemerovo. Her works have been highly praised by juries and recognized as the best in various categories. She also actively participates in exhibitions featuring both classical and contemporary art.
Nazarbayev Foundation Scholarship
Mariyam learned about the opportunity to become a Foundation scholar from her teachers. Preparing for the competition was challenging, particularly the application process, but her determination helped her succeed. For Mariyam, the scholarship is not just financial support but also motivation to keep growing, develop her talents, and strive for success.
