In Kostanay with the support of the Foundation of Elbasy people with special needs are helped to learn new professions
For two months now the Center for Youth Perspectives has been operating in Kostanay. It was opened by the public association «Rauan» with a grant from the First President’s Foundation, received as a result of the Social Ideas and Projects Fair «Zamannyn` ziatker jastary – vision of the future». In this center, people with special needs between the ages of 18 and 40 are taught new professions.
Until December, courses on printing, gardening, cooking, wood burning, needlework and poultry will be held here. The training program also includes classes in soap making, knitting, sewing, and working with clay. The head of the youth center Aisulu Dzhumabayeva said that in addition to new skills, students will have the opportunity to get a job. The organizers of the project will help them in this.
Initially, the center’s specialists planned to train 30 people – it is for such a quantity that the space and the possibility of organization are calculated. However, there were much more people who wanted to learn a new occupation, so it was decided to divide them into several streams. The educational program of each stream is scheduled for two months.
— The employment problem is a common problem of people with special needs. This project is very important for me, as for a mother raising such a son. Here the guys get new experience taking into account their individual characteristics, — says Natalia Zubritskaya — her son Roman is studying at this center.
The project involves young professionals who once themselves faced difficulties in finding jobs because of their characteristics. Most often, such people study at home, and when they go to work, they cannot join the team or find a common language with their colleagues. The initiators of the project say that in their practice there were precedents when they helped people with disabilities to adapt in various organizations and work collectives. Hence, the idea of opening such a center arose in many respects.
Laura Zhumasheva, a group I disabled person, also notes that it is not easy for people with disabilities to find work. She really hopes that thanks to this project, new perspectives will open up for her.
