II scientific-practical conference on conservation of Sivers apple-tree is held in Almaty
The issues of conservation of Sivers apple-tree are actively dealt with by Caspian University and the fund of the International Sivers Apple-tree. The Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan helps them to realize this global mission. For the second year in a row, our organizations held an international scientific and practical conference on the conservation of the natural range of the Sievers apple tree.
These days, another scientific rally is taking place in Almaty, attended by scientists, experts and public figures from Kazakhstan, the USA, China, Italy, Germany, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. They see as their goal the unification of the efforts of the world community to solve the theoretical, scientific and practical problems of preserving the natural range and genetic resources of the Sievers apple tree.
The Director of the Representative Office of the Foundation of the First President in Almaty Sergey Tokhtarov addressed the conference with a welcoming speech. He noted that Nursultan Nazarbayev in the article «Seven faces of the Great Steppe» calls Kazakhstan the birthplace of apples.
- It is from here that these modest, but significant for the whole world plants gradually settled in all countries. And now Kazakhstan is the keeper of the ancestor of all the apple trees of the Earth - the Sievers apple tree. It was she who gave the world one of the most common fruits of our time, quoted the words of Elbasy S. Tokhtarov.
The task of reviving the Almaty aport, known to the whole world for its impressive size and unique taste, was set a couple of years ago by the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Kazakh scientists with their foreign colleagues then found out that, first of all, it is necessary to restore and maintain the population of the wild-growing variety of the Sievers apple tree. It is she who is the progenitor of all apples on Earth, in particular, the unique apple tree gave birth to the famous aport.
The forum will last several days, until September 21. During it, participants will also visit the Gorge Mikusheno of the Ile-Alatau State National Natural Park and the Topolev branch of the Zhongar-Alatau State National Natural Park. After exploring the wild apple orchards, scientists will exchange views on further joint research on the Sievers apple tree.
