In St. Petersburg, a meeting of the delegation from Kazakhstan with teachers and students of St. Petersburg State University took place.
The delegation from Kazakhstan was headed by the Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Igor Rogov and Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Beketayev. Lectures were also delivered by Unzila Shapak, member of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Michael Blair, Chairman of the Legal Advisory Board of Astana International Financial Center (AIFC).
The main topic of the lecture was devoted to the legal development of Kazakhstan in the context of new political realities.
The Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Igor Rogov noted the importance of informing academic circles about changes in the legal sphere and its significance against the background of recent political events. He also noted: “The Foundation of the First President in the framework of international cooperation with leading world universities, think tanks and foundations, holds meetings on a regular basis. Traditionally, in St. Petersburg State University, we give lectures for students. Our lectures are held in the framework of a memorandum of cooperation between the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and St. Petersburg State University, which was signed in March 2018. A number of joint projects are planned for the near future, including the award of Elbasy scholarships”.
Michael Blair, in his speech, highlighted the role of English law in the functioning of the AIFC.
In turn, representatives of the university noted: “The experience of Kazakhstan in various areas of state-building, in particular, the sphere of development of law, international relations, economics and security, is very interesting for us. In this vein, the Foundation could act as a bridge between the university and Kazakhstani higher educational institutions for the exchange of experience. First of all, we can update our databases with new educational programs”.
Also during the working visit, delegates from Kazakhstan took part in the IX St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. The work of this large-scale platform has covered thousands of representatives of different legal professions from 90 countries from all continents of the world. Participants discussed the most pressing and pressing legal issues and exchanged experiences.
The Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Igor Rogov shared with the forum participants the experience of Kazakhstan in improving legislation, application of case law, and also spoke about the work of the Institute of International Economics and Politics under the Foundation of the First President of Kazakhstan.
