SMM for NGOs: how to promote civic ideas in social media
Thanks to the won grant at the Fair of Social Ideas and Projects organized by the Foundation of the First President, the Almaty Civic Center organized a workshop on social networks for representatives of NGOs in the southern capital.
Anna Sukhacheva, editor-in-chief of an online resource for media specialists at Newreporter.org, told how to promote non-governmental organization projects using SMM tools. The educational meeting was attended by experts from public foundations, non-profit institutions and associations of legal entities of different ages.
The three-hour workshop allowed participants to immerse themselves in the specifics and algorithms of social networks. Together with the trainer, non-governmental sector workers dismantled the types of users, types of content, and the principles of communication in social networks.
The participants of the workshop noted that the storytelling block was the most interesting part of the training. Not everyone can tell beautiful stories on social networks in order to draw attention to himself and his project. However, with the help of this seminar, students learned the basic rules for creating an ideal story.
Representatives of NGOs were able to consolidate their knowledge in the course of practical work. Under the guidance of a coach, each participant learned how to define an audience to promote his project, set advertising goals and choose the optimal strategy for working in social networks.
— The non-governmental sector is one of the important and direct participants in the democratic processes in the country. The presence of NGOs in social networks is a prerequisite for the successful development of projects aimed at improving the lives of Kazakhstanis. And workshops like these in many respects allow activating the work of NGOs on the Internet and attracting the attention of the authorities and society to them, said Altynai Kobeyeva, director of the PF «Information Resource Center».
