Beach for children and young people with disabilities opened in Aktau
On June 28, in Aktau, with the support of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy, an adapted beach was opened for children and young people with disabilities. On a special zone in the region Primorsky now there was a wooden floor, awnings, umbrellas, deck chairs, changing rooms and children's inflatable pools for people moving in a wheelchair.
- It is important that the project allowed all its participants to feel support, to feel themselves a part of the whole Kazakhstan society. The Foundation of the First President is ready to defend and protect the interests of disabled children and families where special children are being brought up. Today the project has already drawn the attention of the public and the state to the problems of adaptation of children with disabilities. This year, he was supported by local authorities and business, said Gulnara Yershimanova, Senior Project Coordinator at the FPP.
The unique socially significant project «Adapted Beach» became the winner of the Fair of social ideas and projects in 2018, organized by the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy. The author of the project is the Public Fund «Luara». Its leader, Luara Asarova, at the opening of the beach, noted that the project’s goal is to create a barrier-free environment for people with limited mobility.
- Thanks to the appearance of an adapted beach, one of the social problems of accessibility of young people with disabilities Aktau to rest on the Caspian coast in the summer has been solved. There will also be a special trail to get as close as possible to the water. This year we purchased a beach wheelchair that floats, she added.
At the grand opening of the beach, the Deputy Akim of Aktau, Timur Sadvakasov was present, who thanked the First President Foundation for supporting and implementing such important and significant social initiatives.
According to Sadvakasov, activists from the youth corps «Zhasproject» will actively help during this beach period in organizing the arrival, swimming and holding events for people with disabilities here.
The beach will be open daily from 10:00 to 19:00 hours. The adapted zone is designed for 10 people, accompanied by parents, social workers or relatives responsible for the health and safety of children during their stay on the beach.
Until the end of the summer, master classes, sand and art therapy will also be held here. And once a week, visitors to the beach will be able to participate in dialogue sites with invited representatives of government agencies, businesses, NGOs and people with disabilities, who have become role models, thanks to their success stories, fortitude, and active life position.
