"Alley of the Great Patriotic War participants" was opened in Almaty in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory

ALMATY. PRESS SERVICE OF THE NURSULTAN NAZARBAYEV FOUNDATION.0 7.10.20 – Today, in the Park named after the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a presentation of the "Alley of the Great Patriotic War participants" took place within the framework of the patriotic action "We remember - we are proud!" The planting of two hundred trees in memory of the Kazakh soldiers with the installation of a memorial plate was initiated by the Republican Public Association "Council of Generals" with the support of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation. Also, the partners of the action were the PF "Council of WWII Veterans, Home Front Workers and Children of War" and the Akimat of Almaty.

The idea of creating the Alley belongs to a member of the Presidium of the RPO "Council of Generals", Major General Almasbek Seitovich Abdrakhmanov.

— Two hundred maple seedlings have been planted here. See they look like a soldiers! Years will pass, much will be forgotten, but maple leaves will whisper: “Thank you, warrior! Thank you, father! Thank you veteran! Thank you for helping to defeat fascism! " Many people told me to give personal names to trees in honor of the heroes. But I decided not to. We have a lot of heroes, and there are only 200 trees. Therefore, if one of the descendants of warriors does not see a tree with the name of his grandfather or great-grandfather, it will be wrong. Let the entire alley serve as a memory of the feat of each soldier of the war, - said Almasbek Abdrakhmanov during the opening of the Alley.

War veterans, home front workers, generals and veterans of military service, pupils of the military-patriotic club "Zhas Sarbaz", representatives of state bodies and non-governmental organizations, journalists and visitors to the park gathered to honor the memory of participants of the Great Patriotic War from Kazakhstan.

— For many years, the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation and the "Council of Generals" have been cooperating in the field of educating youth of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the spirit of patriotism. The formation of a high patriotic consciousness among young people of  Kazakhstan, a sense of loyalty to their homeland is the concern of the older generation for the future, this is a special contribution to the national ideology of Kazakhstan. We see our task not only to instill a lofty feeling of love for the Fatherland, but also to show the new generation the meaning and content of spiritual and moral guidelines. Such actions as “We remember - we are proud!” Demonstrate an example of courage and great deed of our people. And the "Alley of WWII participants" will perpetuate the memory of all participants in the war, — noted the director of the Representative Office of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation in Almaty Sergey Tokhtarov.

It should be noted that the presentation of the Alley was planned on the eve of Victory Day, but due to the introduction of quarantine measures it was postponed.

— Throughout the year we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Despite the fact that the pandemic has made adjustments to our plans, not to mention the way of life, on such a bright and sunny day we are glad to present our common and useful project - "Alley of the Great Patriotic War participants" Throughout the year, we carry out the military-patriotic action "We remember - we are proud!", In which our youth take a direct part. In particular, these wonderful trees were planted by the hands of cadets of military institutions in the spring. I am sure that they will treat them with special care, remembering the courageous deeds of their ancestors, — concluded by the Chairman of the Presidium of the RPO "Council of Generals", Major General Makhmut Telegusov.

We would like to add that the "Alley of the Great Patriotic War participants" is located in the western part of the Park named after the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the landmark is the ethnosad "Zheti Kazyna".
