The first digital laboratory in Kazakhstan presented in Almaty
A digital laboratory has opened in Almaty to develop programming skills and creativity. The start of a unique educational project was given by the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy, together with the company ASBIS and the Kazakhstan Marketing Association. The classroom, equipped with the latest technology, works based on Turan University.
Within the framework of the project, workshops «Everyone Can Code» and «Everyone Can Create», developed by Apple, will be held for children, students and specialists from various fields.
The first participants in world-class educational programs were pupils of a special (correctional) boarding school № 2 for children with musculoskeletal disorders, a specialized complex for orphans «Zhanuya» and the Almaty Regional Orphanage № 1.
Opening the digital laboratory, the director of the Foundation’s representative office in Almaty, Sergey Tokhtarov, noted that the participation of youth from social institutions in Apple Digital Lab workshops is an important step towards the development of an inclusive society in Kazakhstan.
- Pupils of orphanages and boarding schools, unfortunately, do not always have the opportunity to work with gadgets, and thanks to the master classes in this educational project, they will also have access to new technologies and opportunities for self-development and disclosure of their talents. The guys will not be limited to one master class. Classes in the digital lab will be held on a regular basis. Everyone will be able to develop their creativity, take a non-standard approach in solving problems and improve their knowledge in programming, S. Tokhtarov said.
We add that immediately after the presentation of the laboratory, it held master classes for journalists and bloggers on creating videos and graphic content, working with press releases, processing photos, etc.
Nurlan Imangaliyev, the Academic Director of the professional learning center USTAZ with the status of Apple Distinguished Educator, showed how journalists can work with press releases using the LiquidText application on the iPad tablet - highlight key ideas, structure meanings and take notes for them to use in their material. He also taught me how to process photos for professional publications in the Snapseed app.
In turn, Aneliya Mukhamedkarimova, the executive director of the Kazakhstan Marketing Association and teacher of Digital Soft Skills, shared with bloggers the «thing» for creating advertising posters and graphic content for social networks using the Over, Photoshop Mix and Tayasui Sketches School applications.
- The laboratory impressed with its equipment and comfort for work. There are definitely excellent conditions to develop your creativity. Nurlan showed excellent practical methods of how to do this, blogger Aida Kahn shared her impressions.
In January 2020, the laboratory will begin training faculty of Turan University on the use of digital technologies in the educational process with the development of pilot programs in existing disciplines. In the meantime, as part of the presentation of the digital laboratory, teachers and students also passed the workshop «Everyone Can Create».
- The opening of the Apple Digital Lab is a unique opportunity for students to create high-tech design projects for the Internet environment. Starting from the landing page and ending with interesting video clips. In a situation where the younger generation of consumers is focused on the perception of various kinds of visual information - loves vibrant dynamic pictures - this is especially valuable. Marketing students of Turan will not only learn how to communicate with the target audience in a language that they understand, but they will also be able to create commercially significant projects that will allow them to be successful and competitive from the student’s bench, said the senior teacher of disciplines «Marketing Logistics» and «Behaviour of Consumers» of the University Turan Elena Polukhina.
