In Seoul (Republic of Korea), the Elbasy Foundation organized the II Kazakhstan-Korean Forum on the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
The event was another step towards the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy and the Korea Foundation, concluded in August 2018.
The Forum was attended by government officials of the Republic of Korea, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, representatives of the diplomatic corps, professors and academics of Seoul National University, experts in the field of nuclear disarmament and nuclear safety.
The Kazakhstan delegation included the leadership of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy, representatives of the leadership of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Institute of World Economy and Politics under the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy, Professor Igor Rogov during the forum emphasized: «Kazakhstan and South Korea are connected not only by political and economic ties, but also by common issues in the field of nuclear safety. Our country has experienced the pain of a nuclear legacy. And today, the First President’s Foundation has created this platform so that Korean experts interested in Kazakhstan’s experience in nuclear disarmament have the opportunity to speak with their Kazakh colleagues».
In turn, the President of the Korea Foundation, Professor Lee Geun, noted the great role of Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev in shaping a nuclear-free world: «The work of the two Foundations consists in creating precisely such high-quality sites where nuclear disarmament is discussed from different angles. Kazakhstan, led by First President Nursultan Nazarbayev, has made an invaluable contribution to nuclear safety. Kazakhstan experience is very important for us. I think that this format of work will continue and other countries will join the Forum».
As the parties noted, such forums are a kind of message for other states and organizations about progressive ideas designed to ensure peace for all. This is a call to join a large international dialogue in the name of global security.
