The work of the Astana club continues in the capital of Kazakhstan.         

Each year, this international dialogue platform is of great interest from the authoritative politicians of the world.

The Astana club unites the key players of Eurasia, allowing us to develop common approaches in resolving global conflicts and overcoming crises.

The significance of the work of the Astana club was noted by the Chairman of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Dariga Nazarbayeva: «I am convinced that the only viable alternative to the economic, political, military confrontation is only global cooperation. It is impossible without an honest, direct and open dialogue. Only as a result of such a dialogue can new, reflecting modern realities, rules of the game appear on the Eurasian continent and around the world. In this sense, the meetings and discussions of the Astana Club are always a frank talk about the most important. This is the contribution of our country, this is our contribution, dear colleagues, to the construction of a new architecture for global cooperation».

Foreign speakers also emphasized the importance of the work of expert platforms, pointing out that only through an intercountry dialogue it is possible to resolve problematic issues of our time. So, speaking about them, the former Prime Minister of Spain, Jose Luis SAPATERO emphasized: «No nationalism can cope with global climate or technological changes. And no populism can help us overcome social inequality. If there is no global response, we will find ourselves in a very difficult situation. The situation in which the world was in the twentieth century. And all this is due to a lack of international cooperation. We must move to the 21st century, and this is the strengthening of cooperation!»

Another global issue is international terrorism. According to the ex-President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) can play a large role in the fight against this evil. «The security mechanisms within the SCO to combat extremism and terrorism are the best alternative».
