The project about the life and works of a great thinker Abai Kunanbayev was created by the State Language Development Foundation at the initiative of First President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who allocated the funds to the project, which he received as prize money from Silk Road Peace Prize. Part of the funds was allocated to the Foundation for the implementation of social projects and one such project is the abaialemi.kz website.

The website has a broad base of information about the era of great Abai, his followers, memoirs of his contemporaries, works of Abai scholars and works dedicated to Abai, among other topics. The website contains information from different sources, such as books, newspapers and magazines, scientific publications, documentaries, photo archives. The information, which is available in Kazakh, including in Latin script, and Arab languages, has such sections, as Abai biography, works of Abai, Abai in different languages, Abai songs, memories about Abai, Abai studies, Abai scholars, “Abai Zholy” (“The Path of Abai”) epic novel, memorable places, Abai museum, and photo gallery.
