Project: «Establishment of a Gerontology and Anti-Aging Pharmacology Laboratory»

Relevance

Population aging is one of the key global challenges modern society faces. In Kazakhstan, as in many other countries, life expectancy is increasing, leading to a rise in age-related diseases. Given this trend, the need for innovative approaches in gerontology and geriatrics is more pressing than ever.

Currently, there is no specialized laboratory in the country dedicated to advancing gerontology as a field and developing practical projects for creating anti-aging medicine.

Over the past five years, the Start-App company «VictusPharm» has been operating in Kazakhstan in the gerontological field, holding a scientific activity license, a team of qualified experts, basic equipment, and two research grants from the Science Committee.

The creation of a joint specialized laboratory for gerontology and anti-aging pharmacology by the «Institute of Innovative and Preventive Medicine» and «VictusPharm» could accelerate progress in the field.

Project Goal

To establish a research base capable of becoming a center for cutting-edge developments in gerontology and anti-aging pharmacology. The laboratory will focus on improving the quality of life for the elderly by developing innovative solutions to promote healthy longevity and reduce age-related disease risks.

Project Objectives

The Gerontology and Anti-Aging Pharmacology Laboratory will provide:
• Fundamental research on cell cultures with an accelerated aging phenotype (SASP).
• Screening of geroprotectors.
• Preclinical studies (evaluation of safety, toxicity, and efficacy) of substances with potential geroprotective activity.
• Development of new functional food products with geroprotective properties.
• Creation of transport systems for geroprotectors, including exosomes, nanoparticles, and plant-derived exosome-like nanoparticles.
• Laboratory support for gerontological consultations, including «biological age» assessment.
• Acquisition and execution of scientific research grants and contractual projects.
• Clinical trials of developed products to confirm their efficacy and safety.
• Advancement of knowledge and technology in gerontology and pharmacology through collaborative research and development.
• Implementation of innovative methods in preventive medicine to enhance elderly well-being.
