On the eve of the celebration of Nauryz, and in honor of its 10th anniversary, the ensemble «Turan»  held a creative meeting for fans of ethnic music. The event in the format of a concert-lecture by a world-famous team was supported by the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy and the State Museum, named after A. Kasteyev.

The folk-ethnographic ensemble «Turan» was founded in 2008 by students of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory. The main idea of creating a collective was the desire to recreate the phenomenal sound of archaic musical instruments. Through its creativity, the ensemble tells about the traditions, history, life and culture of the Kazakh people.

Today «Turan» is five talented and successful musicians: Abzal Arykbayev, Bauyrzhan Bekmukhanbetov, Yerzhigit Aliyev, Maksat Medeubek, Serik Nurmoldayev, who own the virtuoso playing on more than 30 folk instruments. Among them, sybyzgy, shankobyz, saz-syrnai, sherter, zhetigen, shinkildek, dombra, kyl-kobyz, etc. In their performances the ensemble also uses the technique of throat singing.

For 10 years the ensemble has done a lot. Three music albums have been released and over 30 author compositions have been written. In addition, the team performs works of contemporary composers and classics. «Turan» performed in more than 70 countries of the world and gave over 600 solo concerts. And throughout the entire creative path of the ensemble, the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan provides active support.

The originality of the ensemble and the desire to revive folk motifs did not go unnoticed by the Foundation of the First President, who helped talented performers release a musical album, contributed to the team in organizing solo concerts in Almaty, contributed to the ensemble performance on the world's largest stages. It is gratifying that «Turan» has found its unique style of performance, and today the team has conquered both domestic and foreign spectators. Referring to the traditions of the ancestors, the ensemble playing on folk instruments in modern arrangement conveys all the richness and flavor of the spiritual culture of the Great Steppe, said Sergey Tokhtarov, Director of the Representative Office of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Since March last year, in honor of its 10th anniversary, the folk-ethnographic ensemble «Turan» made a world tour, having been with concerts in Belarus, Norway, Russia, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Tatarstan and Turkey. With the help of the Foundation of the First President, the group performed solo concerts in China. It is in this country, as well as in Turkey, that the ensemble has the biggest fan clubs. One of the videos with the group, published on the Turkish YouTube channel, scored more than 20 million views.

«Turan people» during the creative meeting told that they repeatedly voiced performances. Their compositions can also be heard in the soundtracks of the national cinema, in animated films for children, advertising of the world brand of the drink and in TV shows, including on Turkish television.

The ensemble sees in its mission the revival, preservation and popularization of Kazakh folk musical instruments not only in the homeland, but also far beyond its borders. For supporting in the implementation of this task, the group members thank the Foundation of the First President.

Note that before the end of the year, as part of the celebration of the decade, «Turan» will give concerts in many cities of the country.
