The International cooperation with universities of the Republic of Lithuania
The representative office of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy in Almaty received a delegation of the Republic of Lithuania - heads of leading educational institutions of the country. The meeting participants discussed the prospects for cooperation in supporting the talented youth of the two states.
Director of the Foundation’s office in Almaty, Sergey Tokhtarov, introduced the foreign guests to the Foundation’s activities, outlining the organization’s priorities, supporting young talents in science and culture, charitable activities, and assisting Kazakhstani NGOs in implementing ideas and projects.
The delegation included representatives of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Vitovt Great University and Vilnius State Technical University.
During the meeting, S. Tokhtarov focused on the activities of the Science and Culture Councils operating under the Fund:
- The Council for Science and the Council for Culture are advisory bodies at the Foundation of the First President. For over a decade, with the efforts of the Councils, large-scale programs and projects have been successfully implemented to support young Kazakhstanis, known not only in Kazakhstan, but also far beyond the borders of our country. Young scientists from other countries publish their reports and research results in scientific collections published by the Foundation, speak at our conferences and forums. In turn, with the support of the Foundation, young scientists of Kazakhstan are not rare guests abroad, where they also present their developments, participate in symposia and in major world-famous conferences. And this work continues from year to year, only expanding the boundaries of international cooperation.
The members of the Science Council are the Rector of the Eurasian Technological University, Associate Professor, Candidate of Economic Sciences Zhanar Temirbekova and Director of the Higher School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health of the Kazakh National University, named after Al-Farabi, Candidate of Medical Sciences Aynash Oshibayeva - told Lithuanian colleagues in more detail about the significant and effective activities of the Foundation, such as the annual conference of young scientists «Innovative development and relevance of science in modern Kazakhstan», the international forum «Burabay Forum» and others.
Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of KTU Brone Narkevichene presented competitions of an educational institution for schoolchildren and students. Her colleague, Director of the Department of International Relations of Kaunas University of Technology, Gedre Shadeikayte, spoke in detail about the university, its opportunities for students and the double degree program on the example of KTU cooperation with the Kazakh National University, named after Al-Farabi.
The parties agreed that the Foundation of the First President and the leading universities of the Republic of Lithuania pursue common goals in the field of education and science. Both the Foundation and, for example, KTU identify and support talented mathematicians, physicists, IT specialists, chemists.
The meeting participants exchanged invitations for upcoming events. Thus, teachers and students of Kaunas University of Technology are invited to the upcoming international forum «Burabay Forum».
