Supporting Innovation - Investment for the Future
The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, at the opening ceremony of the Year of Youth set a number of tasks for the Government aimed at supporting and educating young people. «Kazakhstan can become a new intellectual power. Given the fact that our country is preparing for a more advanced technological and digital future, it is extremely important for us not to fall behind the leading trends in the field of education. Kazakhstan should give its youth the necessary knowledge and skills that will ensure success and prosperity for all», the Head of State emphasized.
The Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy implements projects to support talented young people who demonstrate their abilities in science and in the development of innovations.
One such project that was supported by the Foundation is the Wunder online programming school. This platform was developed by a young and successful IT specialist Bakhytzhan Bayzhikenov. He is the winner of the Gold Medal at the World Olympiad in Informatics, the winner of many international competitions. Studying in London, the guy founded two start-up projects worth more than three million euros.
After studying and working for some time abroad, Bakhytzhan decided to return to Kazakhstan and teach children to develop mobile applications and websites. Thanks to the support of the Foundation, his idea came to life, and those who want to study have the opportunity to learn the basics of programming for free.
«The youth projects implemented by the Foundation show that there are a lot of really talented guys in our country who have already succeeded in science and IT-technologies at a rather young age. We identify, stimulate and support such children, contribute to their further development. Kazakhstan will be one step ahead if we master new technologies, teach the younger generation innovations», said Kanat Dzumabayev, Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Wunder platform provides a variety of tools for lessons - video tutorials, presentations, books, workshops, webinars and conferences.
In general, training is based on six faculties (Scratch Lab, Mobile Lab, Android development, Web Design, IOS development, Olympiad programming) and sixteen special courses. This helps not only to learn, but also to consolidate their knowledge with the help of tests and automatic verification of the correctness of the code.
The first students were trained 20 schools from different regions of the country. To date, the number of students of the online school has exceeded two thousand, they have completed 30 thousand 175 lessons.
Programming helps you learn how to plan your actions and make simple algorithms - this is what you need in today's fast-paced world. It also develops logical and critical thinking in children. Proof of this is the fact that many guys are drawn up in school, become the winners of computer science competitions.
The project teaches children the profession is already present - programming. Moreover, it is more than just a technical skill. It allows you to interact with the digital world and become the creators in it.
Studying at the online school will continue this year. Moreover, it is planned to expand the enrollment of students, organize contests for mobile applications and websites, and also introduce adaptive learning. Thus, everyone will have the opportunity to study individually, depending on his interests, success and abilities.
