Corruption is a social evil undermining the development of any society.

The fight against corruption offenses is one of the most important priorities of the national policy of Kazakhstan. Success in this struggle is possible not only with the participation of public authorities, but also with NGOs and the population. At the same time, it is important to constantly improve anti-corruption measures.

The V International Anti-Corruption Conference is being held today in Nur-Sultan. Over 20 speakers from 10 countries participate. Experts discuss advanced anti-corruption tools. Among the speakers are State Secretary of Kazakhstan Krymbek Kusherbayev, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alik Shpekbayev, Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy Igor Rogov, Head of the Anti-Corruption Agency of France Charles Duchenne, ex-president of the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Moldova Anatoly Donchu, Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine Anatoly Novak and others.

The importance of such large-scale conferences was emphasized by Igor Rogov: “Kazakhstan is the country that was among the first in the CIS to implement anti-corruption programs under the leadership of the First President Nursultan Nazarbayev. The legislation improves in the republic, punishment for corruption offences is being tightened, and information, preventive actions are being strengthened.  However, time zips along. It requires new approaches and improvement of anti-corruption mechanisms.
Therefore, such large dialogue platforms as the ongoing International Conference are very useful. Since the exchange of best practices and experience, discussion of challenging issues contributes to the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures”.

Experts, representatives of the academic community shared their experience and knowledge in the implementation of internationally recognized preventive anti-corruption tools. These tools are used in the areas of liability for unlawful enrichment, whistleblower protection, anti-corruption expertise and awareness.

During the conference, arrangements were made regarding further cooperation with foreign anti-corruption agencies and NGOs.
