International cooperation
Description of initiative
The Foundation of Nursultan Nazarbayev has established a trust-based partnership with public associations in China, France, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. In dealing with every partner, the uniqueness of bilateral ties between nations and common grounds in different areas are taken into account, including in education and science, innovation and new technologies, social projects, and charity as well as cooperation between analytical centers.
Antinuclear Initiatives of Elbasy
Promotion of ideas of global security, peace and accord is a fundamental base of the state policy of Kazakhstan’s First President and Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev. Promotion and discussion of these ideas globally constitute one of the key areas in the work of the Foundation of Nursultan Nazarbayev and the Institute of World Economics and Politics. Today, the issues of global security are gaining special importance, because, according to experts, lack of trust and tensions between key nuclear powers is close to reaching its critical point. This is primarily due to the expansion in the “nuclear club” and attempts of some states to acquire a nuclear arsenal.
In 2019, the following projects were implemented:
- Fifth Meeting of the Astana Club (Nur-Sultan)
- Awarding ceremony of the Nazarbayev Prize for a Nuclear Weapon Free World and Global Security (Nur-Sultan)
- Presentation of the Norwegian translation of Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev’s book on nuclear disarmament “The Epicentre of Peace”
- Organization of I and II Forums dedicated to denuclearization of the Korean peninsula (Nur-Sultan and Seoul)
- Round table ”Global Nuclear Non-Proliferation: Is the World Ready to Action?” (Nur-Sultan)
- Round table discussing peace initiatives of Elbasy in nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation (London)
